#PutHousingFirst Congressional Run-Off Candidate Scorecard

Monday, April 12, 2021 – Early voting is underway for the 2nd Congressional District U.S. Representative race, and continues until Saturday, April 17th. In preparation for both early voting and the April 24th special election, the Greater New Orleans Housing Alliance (GNOHA) is releasing their #PutHousingFirst Congressional Run-Off Candidate Scorecard.

Each candidate has committed to a Just Recovery, as outlined by our partners at Community Change. This commitment ensures the next U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District supports federal fund allocation – through the American Rescue Plan – for emergency rental assistance, emergency housing vouchers, homeowner assistance, homelessness assistance, supportive services, and housing counseling.

While GNOHA does not officially endorse any political candidates, we encourage voters to consider the scorecard as they go to the polls. GNOHA continues to challenge candidates to acknowledge the affordable housing crisis and #PutHousingFirst initiative by releasing scorecards ranking candidates based on their housing policy platforms.

Since its creation in 2007, GNOHA has sought to create change in the Greater New Orleans community through public policy advocacy and public education. The collaborative advocates for the preservation and production of affordable housing for people within the Greater New Orleans metropolitan region and places a special emphasis on the needs of the most vulnerable in society – seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, low-wage workers and low-income families.
