Housing is healthcare and while the Center for Disease Control has issued an eviction moratorium set to expire at the end of the year, this moratorium does not protect everyone. Even before the pandemic nearly half of all Louisiana renters were cost burdened and there has been little federal and state rental assistance and follow through to help support those who are at risk of eviction. We cannot allow COVID-19 era evictions to continue blocking access to housing especially when folks have no other options. Thus, we need to support SB46 to seal COVID-19 era eviction records. Keeping everyone safely housed through the pandemic and beyond is fundamental towards transitioning to a resilient and equitable future.
The Senate Judiciary A Committee will be hearing SB46 tomorrow, Tuesday 10/6, at 9 am.
Please call the members of the Senate Judiciary A Committee and ask them #PUTHOUSINGFIRST by supporting SB46 and helping families get back into homes
